Rear Sway arm - look how neat!

Today I've been busy in my cold garage, not more than +12dg C in it, since it´s more than -20 C outside, buurrh. Anyways I have made the complete rear swayarm system. Look at pictures I think it´s going to be neat and will work just fine. I have used a regular steelpipe and maybe it has to be some kind of fethersteel. We will see once it get´s on the road.

Dashboard!

I have today done some work, first I got help from a freind to cut material for the rear axle swayarm. It´s going to be mounted inside the trunk, really neat it will be. In the afternoon I started to mount the dashboard and wiring for the instruments. These intruments are really good lookin` if you ask me.

The frame has a body

Have last week got the body mounted and boltet to the frame, a milestone!

Frame are painted -Wooha!

I have got the frame painted last month, also remounted the axles, engine and brakesystem. No is shines....and it purple.

The door part 2

I have also made the power window.I have used an old Volvo window engine and got a steel bar with teeth made in a laser machine. Installed it last night in left door. Works just fine - fun!

The making of a door

The door must be made by me, a really headache. I have now continued with the doors. I have tonight and also yeasterday night made the latch and connection to the handle. Not easy since it so little place. Have also made the return spring and it seems to work just fine.

Stronger than steel

Förstärkning av ramen. efter SFRO besiktning blev detta en sak som måste åtgärdas, förstärkning av X-kryssen i ramen var en nödvändighet. ENG: After the SFRO test (in my garage) I have to make some adjustements.Reinforcement of the frame, the X-cross must be stronger itś welded by former owner a little strange.

Reinforcing the rearend

Har haft besiktning av SFRO, och fick några 2:or, bl a förstärkning av infästningarna av Coil-Over dämparna både uppe och nere på bakaxeln. Eng: I had the SFRO control guy and he made a "walk-throu" on my chassie. I did get a couple of points that not was okey. One of the things were to reinforce the Coil-Over suspension, how it was boltet to the frame and rearaxle.

The fire wall

Har isolerat brandväggen och monterat dit stagen, värmepaketet, spolarburken och tändspolen.
Trång men det kommer att gå att trixa dit grejorna. Dragit Värmeslangarna från motorn och en "throu the wall" genomföring för tändspolen. Eng: I have isolated the firewall and mounted the heating unit, Ignition coil, watertank for the window cleaning and heating hoses from the engine. Not much space left but I will get the parts there even if itś a bit narrow.

The battery departement

I dag har Jag sågat hål i bagagegolvet, och svetsat en batterilåda, som nedsänkes i karossgolvet. Även monterat en huvudströmbrytare. Eng: Today I have cut a hole in the rear trunk, welded a steeelbox for the battery and mounted a mainswich for the power. Pretty neat I think.

Cut'n Weld on the frame

Har beslutat att kapa av och svetsa om ramen med en kick-up i stället för orginalets långa ram. Eng: Have decided to cut and change the frame shorter and to go up and under the rear part of chassie. The car will be built without fenders, itś a real hot-rod!

New Power, new Engine!

Renoverat en Chevy 350" sista veckorna, nu börjar den bli klar. Ska monteras i -57:an i vinter.
Eng: Have refurbished the last weeks a Chevy 350" that are going into the
Chevy -57 this winter.

Petrol Inlet

Bensinpåfyllning, här borras det. Jag monterar delar från skroten. Div Saab plus Chevy delar, katatrof på en Ford! Eng: Today I've mounted the petrol inlet. Mixed parts from the junkyard, Saab and old Chevy. The search and solution are half of the job!

New Engine to the -57

Bygger en ny motor till -57 som rasade i somras. En Chevy SB 350" från 70 talet (från en Camaro). Den hade rasade vevlager, så hening av vestakarna var ett måste och nya ram och vevlager samt vevaxel ur min 305" blir grunstommen i denna motor. Den får samma toppar, insug + förgasare som satt på 305":an. Eng: I am building a new engine to my -57 Chevy. I have bought an old 350" Chevy SB that used to sit in a -74 Camaro, It had two bearing in the crank that was stuck. I have "turned" the connecting rods and now the build are on the way. Sweet rides, need sweet engines....

My new steering

Har strulat med styrning i sommar, bestämde mig för att bygga om till kuggstångs styrning istället. Nu sitter grejorna där, puuuh!
Eng: Have been "messin" with the steering during the summer. I've decided a couple months ago to rebuild with a newer design. Now the parts are in place, finally!

Hangin'by a thread

Ramen köptes boxad och klar, det fanns inga muttrar för att bulta fast karossen. Bara att jobba två kvällar extra och hålsåga och svetsa fast svetsmuttrar.
ENG: I have come to the stage when bolting the body to the frame I realized there were no nuts inside the frame, just to work another 2 nights.

Great Lake Run

Tävlade och åkte denna "tävling" i går, trevligt och mycket folk. Det gick sådär, några stationer var vi tom bra på. Eng: We were in a family car competition yesterday, you start at one place and have small crazy competitions on the way. Really fun and we were really good in a few of them. Me and my wife called us "pair of blue" since we borrowed a blue Chevy Impala -65 and have a blue Chevy -57 standing on the yard.

Safety first

Håller på att slutställa en störtbur till rod- bygget. Kommer kännas bra vid ev kontakt med annat materia vid högre farter. Eng: Finalizing the building of a rollcage for the rod. Will be feeling really great if and when I hit something in higher speed in future.

Up like the sun, down like the stockmarket.

Våran Cheva tålde inte motorvägen, gav upp i Uppsala. Vi fick ta hem den med bilbärgare. Snyft och grin. Eng: Our old blue pearl didn´t make it so far, in Uppsala the engine was tired for good.
We had to tow her to the car freight company. We all had tears in our eyes.

Vi tog Chevan till Västerås, där Europas största träff för Jänkare startar 4/7.
Eng: We took the Chevy for a spin down to Västerås, where the biggest meeting in Europe are held each year. In the picture
there are a similar car.

Cruel inlet

Senaste "gadget" till rodden, visst se denna luftrenare helt grym ut. Inte många av dessa finns kvar. Eng: Look what I bought on Ebay, a original gadget to my rod, I guess there are not many left of these, looks really awsome.

Break problems Chevy

Har idag monterat nya bromsprylar på Cheva -57, har haft problem med att frambromsarna (skivor) bromsar lite av sig själv efter några mils körning. Nu ska vi se om denna ombyggna hjälper. Eng: Have today rebuilt the brakes on my Chevy -57, have been having problem after a few miles driving that the forward brakes are braking by themself. Hope this will fix the problem.

Blast away!

Idag har jag monterat en riktigt båthorn på Solöga. Undan måsdjävel - tuuuuut! Eng: Today I've mounted a real boatsignalhorn on "Suneye" Get lost seagull - hooonk!

Oldest son has graduated

Vår förstfödde har tagit studenten, en stor dag igår. Nu börjar livet och äventyret startar. Eng: Our first born has gratuaded, a big day for him and the family. From today the adventure starts.
